Lawrence Burgess is an internationally recognized media producer. He has served in every aspect of the production phase in audio, print, stage, and screen since 2011. Lawrence is married to his best friend Kristen. They fawn over their beautiful black house panther, Isis. He holds a Masters in Media Studies & Film from West Virginia State University.
Lawrence began as a child actor under the instruction of Maestro Thomas Conlin, Selina Midkiff, January Johnson, and Regina Jordan. Under their companies, Lawrence performed in Pagliacci (Ensemble), Charlotte’s Web (Templeton), the Appalachian Children’s Chorus, and several dance/drama productions. During his baccalaureate work, he served as President of the Daniel L. Ferguson Sociological Society and Vice-President for the C. E. Jones Historical Society and Baptist Campus Ministries. His Masters concentration in screenwriting and media management was mentored by the late Dr. Stuart McGehee, Dave Brock, Dr. Marc Porter, and Dr. Robin Broughton.
He has collaborated with Astral Theatre Collective, BlackRoot Theatre, the West Virginia Power, the Fox Burrow, West Virginia State University, the Alban Arts Center, Southgate Media Group, Laugh Appalachia, Jay Silverman Films, Jackson County Schools, and the Capitol Theater.
